Tosca Mark, Newmarket, Ontario, CANADA

Tosca Tosca Mark has been knitting and crocheting since she was 7 years old. She grew up in Europe where learning to crochet, knit and sew was part of the regular school curriculum. Both her mother and grandmother were crocheters and knitters. Commercial patterns were almost nonexistent in the household. Her mother did all the calculations to produce the desired garments. Patterns were a new discovery when Tosca moved to Canada. She discovered that commercial patterns rarely fit correctly or their yarns often were not obtainable. She soon went back to her mother's method of modifying patterns to fit. She crocheted her own wedding dress and knit a coat to match. In 1998, Tosca decided to combine her mechanical design background with her life long hobby of knitting and crochet and her love for fibres to establish Yarns in Motion, a mobile and Internet mail order yarn retailer also offering pattern design and instructional services.
