MEM9A. 39 WAYS TO CROCHET: Nancy Nehring.
Thursday, August 9, 2001, NOON - 2 PM.
Crochet may be composed of just a few stitches but OH, what you can do with those stitches! This slide presentation showed many distinct styles of crochet, including a few you may never have heard of, such as Florentine crochet, Bosnian crochet, Gros Crochet and Hardanger crochet. Slides were a combination of photos from old publications and actual crocheted pieces. Discussion and questions followed the slide presentation.

This is the class focused on the process of getting designs to market by way of self-publishing, transforming a design into a saleable pattern, and marketing were covered. The discussion covered market strategies, working with reps and distributors, publicity and compensation.

MEM9D. THREE TAKES ON A MOEBIUS SCARF: Mary Rhodes.

This tube with a twist makes a great winter scarf that lies flat under your coat. The Three basic versions (sc, sc net and dc) give different looks for lots of different yarns, from smooth to mohair. Students made sample scarves and tried different textures.
