CCIP89AP. Jean Lampe. The Craft Yarn Council of America (CYCA) conducted this workshop for crocheters with advanced beginner skills interested in becoming Certified Crochet Instructors. Becoming a Certified Crochet Instructor provides course participants with the opportunity to share their knowledge and skills with others. In addition, there are many direct and indirect rewards, including: in-depth knowledge of the terms, techniques and design guidelines of crocheting; better understanding of pattern instructions; increased confidence in public speaking and communication skills; and meeting new friends. The workshop included: reinforcement of basic and advanced crocheting skills, fiber and yarn selection, color and design coordination, gauge and body measurements, and project creations.
In addition to completing the workshop, participants must dedicate a minimum of 15 hours as a Craft Yarn Council Certified Instructor within a six-month time frame in order to earn their Certification. This may be accomplished by teaching the basic skills to beginners either individually or in small groups with the goal of assisting them in completing a small, simple project.
