Kathleen Power Johnson, Sarasota, Florida

 Kathie

Kathleen's plan for her life has been not to grow old regretting she hadn't tried something which interested her. This best describes her career as a writer and fiber artist. While her greatest obsessions are handknitting and crocheting, her creative tentacles h ave reached out to almost all fiber crafts. She gathers them in and creates hybrids of all that she loves best about color, texture and technique. Every time she fears there isn't much left to learn, she turns a new exciting corner. This energy has produced her eclectic Fiber buttons (featured in Bead & Button, McCall's Needlework and The Button Craft Book, eclectic crochet and knit beaded accessories and whimsical fiber art.

Kathleen designs for yarn companies and magazines such as Knitter's, Interweave Knits, Vogue Knitting, Knitnet, Family Circle Easy Knitting and Crochet, Fashion Crochet and Crochet Digest. Her articles have appeared in Knitting Digest, Fashion Knitting, Knit 'n Style and Knitter's. Teaching keeps the creative engine primed so she has taught nationally at Embellishments, Stitches, for the CGOA, TKGA and guilds across the country. Tosca Mark, NewMarket, Ontario, CANADA

  Tosca

Tosca has been knitting and crocheting since she was 7 years old. She grew up in Europe wh ere learning to crochet, knit and sew was part of the regular school curriculum. Both her mother and grandmother were crocheters and knitters. Commercial patterns were almost non-existent in the household. Her mother did all the calculation to produce the desired garments. Patterns were a new discovery when Tosca moved to Canada. She soon discovered that commercial patterns rarely fitted correctly or their yarns often were obtainable. Therefore she went back to her motherís method of modifying patterns to fit. She crocheted her own wedding dress and knit a coat to match.

In 1998, Tosca decided to combine her mechanical design background with her life long hobby of knitting and crochet and her love for fibres to establish Yarns in Motion, a mobile and internet mail order yarn retailer also offering pattern design and instructional services.
