Kathleen's plan for her life has been not to grow old regretting she hadn't tried something which interested her. This best describes her career as a writer and fiber artist. While her greatest obsessions are handknitting and crocheting, her creative tentacles h ave reached out to almost all fiber crafts. She gathers them in and creates hybrids of all that she loves best about color, texture and technique. Every time she fears there isn't much left to learn, she turns a new exciting corner. This energy has produced her eclectic Fiber buttons (featured in Bead & Button, McCall's Needlework and The Button Craft Book, eclectic crochet and knit beaded accessories and whimsical fiber art. Kathleen designs for yarn companies and magazines such as Knitter's,
Interweave Knits, Vogue Knitting, Knitnet, Family Circle Easy Knitting and
Crochet, Fashion Crochet and Crochet Digest. Her articles have appeared
in Knitting Digest, Fashion Knitting, Knit 'n Style and Knitter's. Teaching
keeps the creative engine primed so she has taught nationally at Embellishments,
Stitches, for the CGOA, TKGA and guilds across the country. She lives in
Sarasota, FL with two whippets, more beads than fleas and a yarn stash as
big as Idaho. KJ11A. The Missing Link: Knitting & Purling with Tunisian Crochet. |

Tosca has been knitting and crocheting since she was 7 years old. She grew up in Europe wh ere learning to crochet, knit and sew was part of the regular school curriculum. Both her mother and grandmother were crocheters and knitters. Commercial patterns were almost non-existent in the household. Her mother did all the calculation to produce the desired garments. Patterns were a new discovery when Tosca moved to Canada. She soon discovered that commercial patterns rarely fitted correctly or their yarns often were obtainable. Therefore she went back to her motherís method of modifying patterns to fit. She crocheted her own wedding dress and knit a coat to match. In 1998, Tosca decided to combine her mechanical design background with
her life long hobby of knitting and crochet and her love for fibres to establish
Yarns in Motion, a mobile and internet mail order yarn retailer also offering
pattern design and instructional services. |

Mary started crocheting in 1967 because she really needed more doll clothes.
Like so many crocheters, Mary is self-taught; learning from books and patterns
when possible, making up techniques at other times. Her approach focuses
on the simple practicality and elegance of crochet techniques. Since 1987,
she has worked locally: doing repair work and teaching through local yarn
shops; teaching basic skills and projects at the local women's jail; and
sharing the crochet perspective at the local Knitting Guild chapter. MEM9D. Three Takes on a Moebius. |

Kathy has been knitting and crocheting for as long as she can remember.
As Senior Editor for knit and crochet at American School of Needlework she
now enjoys using her creativity as she works with hooks, needles, yarns
and patterns. Prior to joining ASN, Kathy, a respected knitting instructor,
shared her talents and expertise with beginners at yarn shops near her home.
This experience gave
her a great appreciation for the importance of clearly
written instructions. Kathy always has a project in progress (usually an
original design) and has recently become known as the "Crochet Sock
Lady" since designing the socks for ASN's book, "Learn to Knit
Socks". KW12AP. Knit Ribbings for Crochet. |
