PD9AP. Organized by CGOA Professional Development Chairperson Kathleen Power Johnson.
This year's Professional Development Day emphasized our increasingly demanding marketplace and the needs of editors, design reviewers and seminar organizers and how they evaluate your design, teaching and article proposals. Topics with broad appeal included the meaning of originality, the hallmarks of professionalism, proposals that sell, sell, sell; analyzing your market and making your skills marketable.
There was a presenter on the industry's perspective on both our product and on crochet professionals themselves. A panel representing many facets of the crochet business discussed an array of topics related to "Bringing Our Craft to the Marketplace". The afternoon was structured with three rotations of five breakout sessions that focused on some of the topics raised during the morning.
There was a special breakout session devoted to design proposal critique. There was also a portfolio table with a display of portfolios from CGOA professionals.
