The designer of the logo for Chain Link 2002 is 70-year-old artist Vivian Williford of West Palm Beach, Florida. The lettering is the work of Doug and Alisha Agnew, also of West Palm Beach, Florida.

The logo incorporates the symbol of the county, the Palm tree; the hibiscus flower, whose name means "delicate beauty, Queen of the tropics"; and the CGOA commemorative hooks.

Palm trees in ancient times symbolized royalty, and the hibiscus flower was always placed on women who were deemed to be highly respected in all of the tropics, whether Pacific region, Atlantic region, or from the Caribbean Sea region.
