A record 257 crochet enthusiasts, including 60 for the Professional Development Day workshop and 13 for the Post-Conference, attended the Chain Link 2003 conference at the Radisson Hotel O'Hare in Rosemont, Illinois and received a warm welcome from National CGOA Officers and Chairpersons, the National Conference Committee, and the Local Conference Committee.

"One tote bag per customer, please." National Conference Chair Judi Schwartz at the registration desk. With the highest-ever attendance at a CGOA conference, there were only goody bags for those who pre-registered and paid the conference registration fee.

Pat Kurfirst of the host Northern Illinois chapter with the official conference T-Shirt. The Northern Illi nois chapter staffed a table in the registration area where conference attendees could get their T-shirts and drop off Fashion Show items.

The Northern Illinois chapter's traveling display at the chapter table. Usually the display is taken to local events like Knit Out Crochet Too to educate the public about crochet and chapter activities.

Gwen and Beaded Bead necklace

Gwen Blakley Kinsler and the Northern Illinois chapter's Beaded Bead necklace. Members of the Northern Illinois Chapter of CGOA crocheted "beaded beads" in purple and teal, the conference colors. Bead artist Jenny Bezingue then used the beads to create a stunning beaded bead necklace and earring set which was mounted on a poster with the signatures of the chapter members who contributed a bead. The necklace and earrings were raffled to raise money for the Northern Illinois chapter at the Chain Link 2003 conference.

Giant Jazz Pot centerpiece

Members of the Northern Illinois Chapter of CGOA crocheted "Jazz Pot" centerpieces with miniature musical instruments crocheted with wire. Yarn for the flower pot covers was donated by Barry Klein of Trendsetter Yarns. The "Jazz Pots" graced the tables at the Thursday evening Keynote/ Opening Reception and at the Saturday Fashion Show/Banquet.
