The Fashion Show (sponsored by Solutia, Inc.) was again one of the highlights of the conference. The fashion show has grown from a spur-of-the-moment impromptu event at the first Chain Link, to a crochet fashion spectacular. Our fifth anniversary fashion show included garments from the yarn and pattern companies such as Lion Brand, Patons, and Trendsetter Yarns as well as garments crocheted by conference faculty and participants, including several well-known designers. Nancy Brown, CGOA Vice President and West Coast representative for Skacel, was the warm, witty and charming moderator. The grand finale of the fashion show was the presentation of not one, but two bridal gowns.

Juried Exhibit & Design Contest Awards

Another highlight of the Saturday banquet was the announcement of the award winners from the Juried Exhibit by Past President Gwen Blakley Kinsler for the following categories: Art To Wear to Victoria Fergus, "Spring to Fall Leaves Sweater"; Decorative Fare to Olga Dvigoubsky Cinnamon, "Kuba"; and People's Choice,Victoria Fergus, "Spring to Fall Leaves Sweater"

Jennifer McClain, senior crochet editor for the Needlecraft Shop, presented the prizes in the "Stitches Squared" Afghan Square Competition to: Carol Mittal, People's Choice; Marie Reeves, Best Use Of Texture; Lily Chin, Best Overall Crochet Technique; Patricia Harich, Most Original.
