Chain Link '98: Special Events

Southern Comfort Hospitality Suite

Coats Patons sponsored the "Southern Comfort" Hospitality Suite. It was a great place to sit and crochet awhile, enjoy the company of other crocheters, and watch a special videotape produced by James Walters and Sylvia Cosh of Great Britain. Coats Patons' quality product range includes Patons and Brunswick yarns, Southmaid and Coats crochet threads, and there was a selection of their yarns on display. The Hospitality Suite was open Thursday, August 13 through Sunday, August 16.

CYCA Instructors Luncheon

Friday, August 14, Noon to 2 PM

This was a special luncheon for CYCA Certified Crochet Instructors, organized by CGOA member Madeline Speziale who attended the Certified Crochet Instructors Course (CCIC) at Chain Link '97 in Schaumburg, Illinois. All CYCA Certified Crochet Instructors were invited to share their teaching tips and experiences. Those registered for the CYCA Instructors Course at Chain Link '98 were also invited to attend. CYCA Education Director Deborah Richardson announced an exciting new program: the CYCA Crochet Educator of the Year. A special menu of chicken caesar salad, rolls, coffee, tea, and cake was served.

Closing Ceremony

Sunday, August 16, Noon to 12:30 PM

The group gathered one last time for a Closing Ceremony in the Hospitality Suite. This was an opportunity to share conference experiences, bid a fond farewell to Atlanta, and make plans to meet again next year.

Historic Stone Mountain Village Tour

Sunday, August 16, 1 to 5 PM

After the hectic activity of the conference, many chose to spend a leisurely Sunday afternoon exploring more than 60 specialty shops, restaurants and galleries in a charming restored 19th century railroad town. Located just outside the gates of Georgia's landmark Stone Mountain Park, the village is a unique display of handmade crafts, one-of-a-kind gifts, treasured antiques, collectibles, Southern artistry, and so much more. This was a great opportunity to pick up a souvenir, enjoy historic surroundings and experience a bit of old-time hospitality at Stone Mountain Village.
