The Crochet Guild of America (CGOA) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving and advancing the art of crochet. It was founded in August 1994 by Gwen Blakley Kinsler and today has over 3000 individual, designer and corporate members and nearly 100 local chapters. Under the present officers and President Amy Shelton it continues to uphold its purpose: to educate the public about crochet, provide education and networking opportunities, and set a national standard for the quality, art and skill of crochet through creative endeavors.
In addition to its crochet Masters Program, local guild support, Professional Development Program, member message board and online member resources, CGOA annually hosts conferences in conjunction with co-sponsorship of the Knit & Crochet Shows (www.KnitandCrochetShow.com). The conferences are known for professionally taught classes, shopping opportunities for crochet supplies, fashion shows of crocheted garments by members and professional designers, Professional Development Day, design contest displays and awards and more, including a dinner highlight.
