Supplies: Worsted weight yarn, 1 oz. each of 2 colors, H hook.
Gauge: 15 stitches = 4 inches
Chain 93.
Round 1: Double crochet in 4th chain from hook, and each chain to the last, 9 double crochet in last chain. Do not turn. Twist piece upside down, double crochet in bottom of each stitch as if working in the round. End after working in last stitch. This end will be squared and not rounded. Cut yarn.
Round 2: With contrast color yarn, attach yarn in top of first double crochet, chain 3, 2 double crochet in each of the next 28 stitches, chain 1, single crochet in each stitch to last double crochet of previous round, chain 1, single crochet in last double crochet, single crochet across squared end to finish, slip stitch in first double crochet of round. End yarn.
Tie: Chain 22 inches. End and cut yarn. Twisted cord may be used for tie.
To form hat, roll piece from small to large end, so the 2 double crochet end forms a brim. Wrap with tie, knot into a bow.
